The deadline to submit a claim for the Husqvarna grass trimmer class action is January 2, 2026—and it’s approaching quickly. A proposed class action settlement involving recalled Husqvarna gas-powered grass trimmers is now moving forward in federal court, offering eligible owners a $45 voucher and extended warranty benefits. If you purchased certain Husqvarna trimmer models before November 13, 2023, you may qualify for compensation.
A customer filed a lawsuit against Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc., alleging that specific gas-powered grass trimmers sold from October 2021 through November 2023 were defective. According to the complaint, these models were part of a recall conducted in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to an alleged fire hazard linked to the ignition module wiring.
Inside the Allegations Behind the Husqvarna Trimmer Fire-Hazard Case
The plaintiff, Robin Allen, claims that certain Husqvarna trimmers, specifically models 130C, 130L, and 330LK, contained faulty wiring in the ignition module. According to the allegations referenced in the complaint, this wiring could spark or arc, potentially causing a fire if gasoline were present near the unit. The complaint further notes one reported burn injury associated with attempting to put out a trimmer fire.
According to court filings, the tools were sold at major retailers such as Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, and Amazon, with approximately 403,000 units distributed across the U.S. The lawsuit asserts that Husqvarna did not disclose the alleged defect on product packaging, in manuals, or on its website.
In February 2024, Husqvarna initiated a recall with the CPSC to offer free repairs for the affected models. The plaintiff, however, argued that the recall remedy was insufficient, leading to this class action resolution.
The settlement states that it does not resolve or impact personal injury, wrongful death, or property damage claims, except for issues related to the trimmer itself.

How to Claim Your Voucher Before the Deadline Hits
To receive the $45 voucher, you must complete two steps:
1. Participate in the CPSC Recall
You must bring your qualifying Husqvarna trimmer to an authorized Husqvarna dealer for the free ignition module repair or replacement. This repair must occur between October 3, 2025, and January 2, 2026, for voucher eligibility.
Authorized dealer locations can be found through Husqvarna’s dealer locator.
For recall-related questions, Husqvarna operates a toll-free line at 877-257-6921, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Eastern Time.
2. File a Claim Form
After completing the recall repair, you must submit a claim form no later than January 2, 2026. You can file a claim online at the official settlement website.
Once approved, your voucher will be redeemable at authorized Husqvarna dealers or online across Husqvarna’s product line. Vouchers are transferable, can be combined with other promotions, and will remain valid for three years from the issue date.
According to the official settlement notice, if the court grants final approval, Husqvarna will offer:
- A $45 voucher that’s available to settlement class members who bring in their class product for recall repair between October 3, 2025, and January 2, 2026, and file a claim form by January 2, 2026
- One-year extension of the limited product warranty for any class product repaired within one year of October 3, 2025, or a three-year extension of the limited warranty specifically covering parts and labor for the ignition module. These benefits do not require a claim form.
- Husqvarna states they will also cover administrative costs, notice distribution, and any court-approved attorneys’ fees and incentive awards.
What Happens Next as the Court Reviews the Settlement
The settlement is awaiting final approval. The court will hold a final approval hearing on February 2, 2026, at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina in Charlotte. The court may adjust the date or hold the hearing remotely. Updates will appear on the settlement website.
Class members who do nothing will receive only the warranty extensions (if they complete a repair), but will not receive the voucher and will also give up their right to sue Husqvarna regarding the issues raised in this case.
Those wishing to exclude themselves must mail a written opt-out request by December 2, 2025. Class members must also object to the settlement by the same date.
If you purchased a qualifying Husqvarna trimmer, complete the recall repair and file your claim before January 2, 2026, to secure your settlement benefits.
