A $15 million settlement has been proposed in the case Barcelo, et al. v. Papaya Gaming Ltd., et al., after plaintiffs alleged that several Papaya mobile games were marketed as skill-based, despite claims that outcomes may have been influenced by automated opponents, referred to as “bots.” The January 30, 2026, claim deadline is approaching, and affected players now have a limited window to act.
Consumers across the U.S. who played Papaya Gaming titles—including Solitaire Cash, Bubble Cash, Bingo Cash, 21 Cash, and Triple Match Cash—were recently notified of an opportunity to benefit from the settlement, valued at $15 million, according to reporting by The U.S. Sun on November 25, 2025.
A Closer Look at the Papaya Gaming Settlement
The proposed agreement stems from allegations that Papaya Gaming Ltd. and Papaya Gaming Inc. unlawfully misled players by presenting certain games as skill-dependent contests while allegedly using bots during gameplay. Court filings claim that players were misled to believe they were competing against real users.
These allegations form the core of the class action lawsuit brought by plaintiffs Jane Barcelo and Christina Isernia.
Papaya denies the allegations and maintains that it has not engaged in unlawful conduct. Hence, the negotiated resolution avoids the uncertainty, cost, and duration of extended litigation.
The case, filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, Los Angeles County, under Case No. 24STCV32626, can still be affected by appeals or further court decisions. Final approval will be considered on March 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
According to the official settlement notice, the agreement allows eligible players to receive either:
- A cash payment, or
- An in-game credits distribution, depending on account status and claim submission.

Submitting Your Claim: What You’ll Need
Claim submission is a critical step for most users seeking benefits. To receive a cash payment, you must either submit a valid claim form or maintain an active Papaya account (if you prefer in-game credit).
Claim forms can be submitted in one of three ways:
1. Online Submission
Visit the settlement website and complete the digital claim form.
2. Email Submission
Download the form and send it to [email protected].
3. Mail Submission
Mail a completed form, postmarked by January 30, 2026, to:
Papaya Gaming Settlement
Attn: Claim Forms
1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210
Philadelphia, PA 19103
Applicants must provide their Papaya account username or ID number, which serves as proof of account activity. As noted by The U.S. Sun, affected individuals are expected to demonstrate proof of purchase through account information.
Players with an active Papaya account who do not file a claim will still receive in-game cash credit, but only if they do not opt out.
If you do nothing, you will not receive a cash payment. If you lack an active account, you will forfeit benefits entirely.
What to Expect as the Court Reviews the Settlement
The court will determine whether to grant final approval at the hearing scheduled for March 2, 2026. During that session, the court will review:
- The fairness and adequacy of the agreement
- Any objections filed by class members
- Attorneys’ fees (up to one-third of the fund)
- A proposed $3,000 service award to the class representative
If objections or appeals occur, distribution timelines may be extended. Payments will only be issued after all claims are processed and the settlement becomes final.
Class members may attend the hearing, though attendance is optional. Individuals who opt out cannot object or participate in the hearing.
If you deposited money into any Papaya game between January 1, 2019, and September 5, 2024, now is the time to act. The January 30, 2026, deadline is approaching quickly.
